Facebook Verified Badge Introduces Free Identity Verification for Users

Facebook Verified Badge will offer free identity verification through a video selfie for eligible users.

Facebook is introducing the Facebook Verified Badge to help verify users’ identities. The Facebook Verified Badge will be available free of charge for eligible users.

The company said users only need to record a short video selfie. Facebook will compare the recording with profile photos to confirm the account belongs to the same person.

According to the company, the verification process takes only a few minutes. Users will not need to pay any subscription fee for the Facebook Verified Badge.

However, the feature will not be available to every user. Applicants must be at least 18 years old to qualify for the Facebook Verified Badge.

The account must also comply with Facebook policies. It must remain free from fraud, deception, and misleading activities.

If Facebook detects evidence of unauthenticated activities, it will not issue the verified badge. The company said only eligible accounts can complete the verification process.

Facebook also clarified that Pages and Professional Mode accounts are currently ineligible. Those account types cannot join the Facebook Verified Badge program at this stage.

The company said it is releasing the feature gradually across different countries. It plans to expand availability to users worldwide in later phases.

Users who cannot see the feature yet may receive access during future rollout stages. The company described the process as secure and reliable.
