The Anthropic Mythos 5 AI model has regained limited access in the United States after government approval. The decision follows security reviews and updated safeguards developed through cooperation between the company and public agencies.
US authorities had earlier restricted access due to concerns tied to national security. After further evaluation, the government decided to ease selected limits for controlled use.
US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick stated in a formal communication to Anthropic that the company worked with government bodies to reduce security risks. These actions supported the decision to restore access for approved organizations.
Under the updated arrangement, only a limited group of trusted companies and institutions can use Anthropic Mythos 5. Access remains restricted and does not extend to broad public availability.
Anthropic explained that Anthropic Mythos 5 represents its most advanced cyber security AI model. The company plans to provide the model to selected cyber security organizations and infrastructure providers.
The company added that approved organizations will receive restored access as quickly as possible. Operational steps are already underway to support implementation.
At the same time, US authorities did not authorize general availability for Anthropic’s less powerful AI model, Fable 5. Existing restrictions for that model remain in place.
Anthropic also confirmed continued cooperation with government agencies. Future discussions will focus on expanding availability for both Anthropic Mythos 5 and Fable 5 under established security conditions.
The announcement marks an important development in AI oversight. Industry observers continue monitoring how limited deployment frameworks may shape future AI access policies while maintaining secure adoption.
The update received positive attention from technology sectors and created cautious optimism about future expansion.
