BISP clarifies that 5,598 cases involved data mismatches, not one person registering 5,598 wives under the support program.

Recent reports about a citizen allegedly registering 5,598 wives under BISP Data Verification have been rejected by the chairperson of the program. The clarification stated that the circulating claims misrepresented official audit findings and created confusion about the actual issue.

Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme and Pakistan Peoples Party Senator Rubina Khalid explained that reports linking one identity card to 5,598 women were incorrect. She stated that the audit report identified 5,598 cases of inconsistencies in marital records and did not mention a single individual having thousands of wives.

According to the chairperson, some groups presented audit observations without proper context. She emphasized that registering multiple wives does not provide additional financial benefits under the program.

Rubina Khalid said the system allows only one payment per family regardless of the number of spouses recorded. She noted that payment procedures remain controlled through verification mechanisms.

She further explained that all BISP payments undergo confirmation and profiling through NADRA. No beneficiary can receive financial assistance without successful verification from the national database authority.

The chairperson stated that the discussed cases relate only to record correction and data profiling processes. She clarified that these observations have no connection to financial misuse or irregular fund distribution.

As part of BISP Data Verification, revalidation of program records was completed in June 2025. She shared that the BISP database contains information related to 38.7 million households.

The overall database includes nearly 200 million records. Among them, only 5,598 mismatch cases were identified. According to the chairperson, these figures demonstrate active monitoring and a functioning audit structure.

She added that whenever inconsistencies appear, the program applies correction, verification, and recovery procedures before any payment is processed. Strict screening measures remain active to protect beneficiaries and maintain accountability.

Rubina Khalid also stated that the effectiveness and transparency of the program have been recognized in reports issued by international institutions and academic evaluations.

The chairperson requested the public to avoid spreading unverified information. She urged people to review official explanations before sharing claims related to BISP Data Verification.

Accurate public understanding supports trust in welfare systems and improves informed discussion.
